The Mexico national football team participated in the 2015 Copa América, which was held in Chile from June 11 to July 4, 2015. Mexico was placed in Group A alongside host nation Chile, Bolivia, and Ecuador.
Mexico started the tournament with a 0-0 draw against Bolivia, followed by a 1-3 loss to Chile. However, they bounced back with a crucial 1-2 victory over Ecuador, securing their place in the quarter-finals.
In the knockout stages, Mexico faced Group B winners Costa Rica. They won the game 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Andres Guardado. In the semi-finals, Mexico faced Chile again, but this time they suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat, ending their hopes of lifting the trophy.
Mexico still had a chance to finish the tournament on a high as they played against Peru in the third-place play-off. However, they lost the game 2-1, finishing in fourth place overall.
Despite not achieving their ultimate goal of winning the tournament, Mexico's performance in the 2015 Copa América showed that they were still one of the strongest teams in the region.
